Welcome!

Welcome to my travel blog! Over the last few months I have been preparing for my trip with Unite For Sight (http://www.uniteforsight.org/), an organization that aims to improve eye health, administer eye care, and eliminate preventable blindness in developing countries. I will be stationed in Tegucigalpa, Honduras for the month of June, fulfilling my duties as a Global Impact Fellow. I am ecstatic to have found this opportunity that combines four of my major interests: pursuing a career in eye care, increasing my proficiency in the Spanish language, learning more about Latin American culture, and serving others in need.

My preparation for this experience has involved raising money to directly fund eye care for impoverished patients, completing online coursework about eye health, global health training, and cultural competency in healthcare administration, shadowing an ophthalmologist, obtaining and sorting nearly 800 eyeglasses and sunglasses, and straightening out travel logistics and specifics. I have put a lot of work into preparing for this trip and I cannot believe that my departure is one week away!

So far, I have raised $2,300 and all of it will go toward providing eye care and sight-restoring surgeries at the main eye clinic in Tegucigalpa as well as in outpost locations outside of the city. Thank you so much to all of you who have already contributed to this wonderful cause! I greatly appreciate your support! For those of you who are still interested in making a donation or for those of you who would like to share the cause with a friend, please visit and share my fundraising page: https://maestropay.com/uniteforsight/volunteers/ref/fa8f0871f92f445aa602aff7087173f4

I am by no means an experienced blogger, but I thought I would give it a try so that I can keep my friends and family updated while I am abroad!

Thank you again from the bottom of my heart for your support and encouragement! I look forward to sharing my travel experiences with you!

Blessings,
Blair Flint
